The Satellite Bookkeeper
Your Virtual Legal Bookkeeper
Legal Bookkeeping Services
Over 20 years of experience as a bookkeeper, mostly for small businesses. We have
been using PCLaw for the past few years, in conjunction with The Satellite Secretary.
Due to the increasing demand for these services by the legal community, we have
opened a new division to specialize in bookkeeping assistance to law offices.
A Virtual LEGAL Bookkeeper has the necessary experience to maintain books to the
standards as set out by The Law Society of Upper Canada. A Virtual Bookkeeper uses
the Internet to provide customized bookkeeping services to a variety of law offices
and must work remotely on your computer to access your accounting program.
The Paperless Office
The current trend in the legal profession is towards paperless offices. The use of
scanners to maintain records, online banking, together with email delivery and receipt
of invoices, now makes virtual bookkeeping an affordable reality. Most monthly
suppliers (telephone, cell phone, credit cards, utilities) allow you to sign-up for email
delivery of your invoices or downloadable online statements. Many purchases are now
made online. The invoices that you generate are already on your hard-drive. Once
you are set up, you need to scan only the few payable invoices that you receive by
mail or in person. All of the above information can be burned onto a disc for
permanent record keeping.

The Benefits
Having an in-house bookkeeper requires you to supply a desk, computer and
workspace. The Virtual Legal Bookkeeper needs no desk or office space, and can
remotely use your computer after hours or when you are out of the office.
Outsourcing also avoids payroll taxes, vacation pay and benefits.
Free Consultation
If yours is a new set of books, you probably have a backlog of invoices and receipts.
We would be happy to attend your office to pick up your records. This will provide an
opportunity to discuss any preferences or reporting needs. Anything else can be
obtained online or from your computer.
